What is the BAPP?
The Open Library of the Colombian Peace Process (BAPP) is an initiative promoted by the Compaz Foundation, with the financial support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, which aims to contribute to the understanding of conversations between the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP (2012-2016), by national and international audiences.
This is a digital platform that facilitates the availability, access and use of historical information related to the conversations, and allows to understand the most important and innovative elements and events of the Colombian peace process.
Which are the objectives of the BAPP?
- To be the main information repository on the Colombian peace process, with public, unpublished documents and new content.
- To democratize information through its systematization, availability and diffusion by using innovative interactive tools.
- To expand the areas of understanding and discussion of the peace process, its milestones, methodologies and lessons learned through a strong pedagogical component targeted to specialized and non-specialized audiences.
- Connect the peace experience in Colombia with other experiences in the world and with potential users at a national and international level through a wide network of partners.
Partners
One of the long-term objectives of the BAPP is to consolidate a network of strategic partners, such as universities, research centers, international organizations, and civil society organizations; with whom it will be possible to enrich the universe of contents and documents available on this virtual platform. Also, partnerships will amplify the reach of this initiative to different types of audiences at the national and international level, and generate new opportunities for long-term joint work with the BAPP.
This effort would not have been possible without the support of the Norwegian Embassy and, especially, of the ambassador John Peter Opdhal. Este esfuerzo no habría sido posible sin el apoyo de la Embajada de Noruega y, especialmente, sin el apoyo del Embajador John Peter Opdahl, a key figure since the beggining of the process. As Norwegian Ambassador to Cuba while the during the conversations, he hosted several meetings between the Government and FARC-EP delegations, particularly in tense moments, as well as meetings between the FARC-EP and several diplomatic delegations and international politicians who visited the Negotiations Table. Norway, as guarantor of the process, has played a crucial role.
