For more than 50 years, Colombia sought a way to end the armed conflict. In 2016, the Final Peace Agreement responded to that demand with a historic commitment: to investigate, prosecute, and sanction those most responsible for the most heinous crimes. This is the mandate that gave rise to the JEP. This is how its special tribunal calculates the time of the Special sanctions imposed to those most responsible for crimes against humanity and war crimes.
