General (R) Óscar Adolfo Naranjo

A retired general of the National Police, graduated from the “General Francisco de Paula Santander” Police Cadet Academy, he was the director of the National Police from 2007 to 2012. In 2012, the International Association of Chiefs of Police recognized him as the best police officer in the world. He managed the establishment of the Directorate of Police Intelligence (DIPOL, in Spanish) and directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DIJIN, in Spanish). He also led strategic blows such as neutralizing the FARC leaders known as “Raúl Reyes” and “El Mono Jojoy” and arresting “Martín Sombra.” He has also been commander of the Special Operations Center (COPES, in Spanish); police attaché of the Republic of Colombia to the government of Great Britain; commander of the Metropolitan Police of Santiago, Cali; and, in 2007, manager of the establishment of the Police Community of the Americas (AMERIPOL). He participated at the Negotiation Table as a national government plenipotentiary.
